The question is, "Are we really developing?". Even some of those who are tagged developing countries in Africa are no where near development. In the past three centuries, the western world have been racing really fast through the journey of science and technology. The more that they were able to invent and innovate, the more they became civilized. While Africa remain closer to nature, being more primitive and heading backwards.
While technology was still very young back in those ancient days, Africans were able to craft out Spears, bows and arrows, which was seen as a big success as of that time. But the innovation of the western world to pursue more of technology led to the invention of military weapons, such as gunpowder and other invention, downgraded the spears, bows and arrows that the African were used to.

And with the much more invention of the western world to be able to come up with better developed shipping transportation, the western people became explorers, which led to the arrival of the white men, who were by this time seen as superior after the military and economic conquest, which brought about slavery and colonialism. I believe this is where the racism we hear of today began.
Imagine a life without electricity, cellphones, cars, air-conditioners, computers, and every other appliances that we come across everyday, you see life would be less compared to the satisfaction we are gaining. But the plain truth is that, even without the existence of these appliances in the lives of millions of Africans today, life is still as much as the same reality, which is nothing but messed up and short.
The knowledge of the tech that a nation has cannot be willingly transferred or shared to other nations because that alone is the fundamentals of the advantages in the competition. And until the Africans understand this, there will be no zeal to pursue the invention of technology with the vision of standing out, which will in turn free them (the Africans) from global dominance, including racism.
Other Continents, such as Asia, has learned from this and patched up together the missing pieces, which has in turn crowned them in wealth and power as a result. And even as Africans clip to the hope of growing up with the means of their ancient culture, which was supposed to grow and evolve with us, but have rather been the one to cage us down for long, them we should keep on dreaming about being developed.
