Otro día de uñas pagado con Hive // Another nail appointment paid for with Hive [ES/EN]
Mi último arreglo de uñas tenía como veinte días cuando decidí que ya tocaba. Llegué con la pintura vencida, las uñas crecidas y ganas de empezar de cero. Cada vez que voy me prometo no esperar tanto, y cada vez vuelvo a esperar.
My last nail set was about twenty days old when I decided it was time. I arrived with tired polish, grown-out nails, and a need for a fresh start. Every time I go I promise myself not to wait so long, and every time I wait again.
Empezamos con la limpieza. Me quitó la pintura vieja, me limó las uñas con la máquina, me puso el primer y metí la mano en la lámpara. Después vino la base rubber transparente, que deja todo parejito antes del color.
We started with the cleanup. She removed the old polish, filed my nails with the machine, applied the primer, and I put my hand under the lamp. Then came the clear rubber base, which evens everything out before the color.
El color lo escogí yo, rosa palo. Siempre me han gustado mucho los rosas de esa tonalidad, y como esta vez llegué indecisa y sin saber qué hacerme, me pareció una buena ocasión para darme ese gusto. Le dije el color y le dejé el diseño a su elección.
I picked the color myself, dusty pink. I have always loved pinks in that shade, and since this time I arrived undecided and with no idea what I wanted, it felt like a good occasion to treat myself. I told her the color and left the design up to her.
Después de la pintura me hizo unas rayitas en negro y encima pasó el brillo plateado, por eso en la foto parecen plateadas. Fue el mismo procedimiento de las veces pasadas, con una sola diferencia, que antes el brillo era dorado y ahora es plateado.
After the polish she drew some thin black lines and passed silver glitter over them, which is why they look silver in the photo. It was the same procedure as the previous times, with one difference, the glitter used to be gold and now it is silver.
Y este fue el resultado. Me gustó muchísimo.
And this was the result. I loved it.
También me arreglé las uñas de los pies. No tengo fotos de ese día, pero me las pinté enteras del mismo rosa, sin ningún dibujo.
Me costó lo mismo que la vez anterior, 1300 pesos, que al cambio son alrededor de 2 USD, o sea, unos 2 HBD. Ese dinero salió de Hive, de lo que gano publicando aquí. Ahora me las hago cada 15 días y lo vivo como un lujo que me estoy dando, uno que siento que me ayuda a estar bien. Para mí, hacerme las uñas es mi día de terapia. Conversamos, chismeamos, nos reímos, y es un momento que espero con ganas todo el mes. Poder pagarlo con lo que escribo aquí me parece de las mejores cosas de este espacio.
I also had my toenails done. I don't have photos from that day, but I painted them the same pink all over, with no design.
It cost me the same as last time, 1300 pesos, which at the exchange rate is around 2 USD, so about 2 HBD. That money came from Hive, from what I earn by publishing here. I now do them every 15 days and I see it as a luxury I'm giving myself, one that I feel helps me stay well. For me, getting my nails done is my therapy day. We talk, we gossip, we laugh, and it's a moment I look forward to all month long. Being able to pay for it with what I write here is one of the best things about this space.
