I ran across this poem I wrote from a few years ago. I don't normally do poems, but Hey, It was Christmas. Love to all God's creatures!
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
I was setting our traps to catch me a mouse.
Peanut butter & bacon were attached with great care,
in the hopes a poor mouse I soon would ensnare.
Mother and I were all snug in our beds,
with hopes of mouse tracks leaving our dreads.
When all of a sudden there arose such a clatter,
calypso snap rhythms and dogs yelping latter.
I arose from our bed to see such a site
of dogs running frantic and howling a might.
The sticky traps stuck to their paws and an ear
and one poor pup was chasing his rear.
"It's Christmas" I said, "Can't we give them a break,
the poor, the hungry, the lonely I think.
Even the mouse has a family to feed,
God put them on Earth for a reason or need."
So as we put out hot chocolate and cookies for Santa,
we'll leave some morsels for those disadvanta.
The mice will get a pass for what's right
Merry Christmas to All! and to all a good night!
