This video I found incredibly insightful, accurate and validating. Drum jokes aside, we are so terribly misunderstood. Oh yes, I have been in groups where each member insisted the song was either too fast, or too slow, all at the same time. I actually feel a little seasick when I perceive the tempo of those around me rolling like the waves on the ocean. One says go faster, another, slow down. I try to keep the tempo neutral, flat like on a smooth glassy lake, or go with the flow like a canoe on a river, but sometimes you just have throttle the damn thing up and blast head long through the churning seas. As long as you make it home without a man overboard, it was a good night. :) Oh they forgot the part about us being good lovers. Timing is everything! "I don't want to work. I want to bang on the drum all day." Thank you Todd Rundgren! That's why I nicknamed my wife "Pearl". God help me if she ever connects that one.
