WOO HOO! Maw won First Prize in the canning contest! Of course she entered 8 different items and there were only 2 other entries. Still the lady judge from the North Carolina State University Ext. said she had perfect pears. I proudly told her. "That's why I married her, she has a perfect pair of eyes, a perfect pair of lips, a perfect pair of legs, and if she keeps walking around in this rain that just started, I can think of another contest she'll have a good chance of winning." About that time I felt one of her perfect pair of elbows in my ribs. Ouch! Later, right after the corn shucking contest, we were watching the Jr Miss Currituck County Talent contest. Maw whispered in my ear, "Get that stupid look off your face before one of these parents slaps you" I was squinting because the sun was in my eyes. She asked me if the sun made my jaw drop open too. Well, I had never seen a 12 yr old girl tap dance and play the Kazoo at the same time. Another perfect elbow, Ouch!
