We are slaves to our emotions.

Extreme vehemence is controlling, and the effect is sometimes too strong. Doesn't matter who you are, how passionless you are, there's always a threshold, and when it's hit, emotions start to flow and take over.

Yet, whatever your emotion, reaction, or response may be, reality stands unfazed. Reality does not care, reality can never be wooed into emotional trickery.

I've always been optimistic, I preach it, as I babble on with - "look at the bright side", "search for something positive in all the negativity" yadayadayda. Alas, soon enough, at intervals, I realize that no matter the amount of optimism you practice, no matter the amount of times you tell yourself that things will be alright, sometimes, things just won't get better.

Sometimes, things will remain just as grim, or transform into something much horrid, as time passes by.

Hence, at times, a hint of harsh reality may just be better than false hope...

The past two months have been a rollercoaster ride, a bumpy experience that includes family, health, and perhaps, an inescapable fate.

Once again, life, reality, destiny, whoever is in charge, it proves that...

Life is a b*tch...

My uncle(my mothers younger brother) has been unwell for about 2 to 3 months now. He has been visiting us over the past few months for constant checkups, and after checking with a third doctor, he says that things aren't too well. This doctor we checked with is a family doctor you can say, and he was the one we visited back in 2015, when I was diagnosed with another life threatening disease.

So, I say his records are solid, and what he says can be taken seriously.

After he ran his second test on my uncle, he said that things weren't looking too good.

What was just a harmless lump a month or two ago, said the previous doctor, is now looking like a threat, according to current reports. Our family doctor, Dr. Syed, says it "may just"(I guess it's the very gullible and hopeful side that chose to include "may") be lung cancer.

My uncle was already going through a lot. During Covid he had to fully close down his business, it was a little shop he used to run back in our village. After that he was simply out of work, no source of income for about 2 years or so. And now, just when he was building up all his hopes and dreams again, just to get back to work, this SOB we call life, decided to make its move.

It's like a pattern at this point, are these diseases a familial thing? The timing too, it's uncanny, as it always strikes during the lowest of lows, causing maximum damage. And it's always collateral damage, it neve affects just one.

We got this report just a few days ago, and it has been messing with my mind. Everyone's worried, countless people keep calling to checkup on things, people visiting almost every day, just to meet my uncle. The whole family is stressed, especially my mother and grandmother, who are right here beside him. My uncle is the youngest after all, he's the silent type, always avoiding conflict and drama, minding his own business. Anger, violence, force, such words were never in his dictionary. He prays 5 times a day, maintains his fasts, preaches his religion and peace.

Yet, life decides to strike this man with the harshest illness known to man?

Life is unfair, yes, but sometimes it just feels like a mix of tragedy and comedy...
