I drew this portrait on paper measuring approximately 25 x 20 centimeters. I used charcoal and chalk pastel.
When designing with charcoal, take advantage of its important properties, namely its texture, large, wide surfaces, and the characteristic contrast of darkness and light in your work.
If you are using chalk pastel after drawing with charcoal, I think you should first use a warm color with low intensity and contrast, such as a muted brown.
Then you can lighten your colors a bit, meaning you can use a lighter brown, which I call ochre, and even a little bit of orange. In some places, blend the edges of the color with charcoal to give your hair volume and depth.
I ended up using yellow and a little bit of blue. Yellow is one of my favorite colors. I always recommend being bold and breathing new life into your design with your favorite colors.
I hope you liked this portrait. Be sure to stay in touch with me and leave me your valuable comments. Rest assured, I will respond to all of them.
If you would like me to draw or paint your face or that of someone close to you, be sure to send me the photo you want. Of course, it's better if there are several photos because I can choose more freely.
Yours sincerely; Hossein Rishehri
