I have heard and also watched a lot of movies about dragons, how they could fly and also breathe fire, how they had a connection with humans and were domesticated in some parts. Though this might be false, I have longed for so long since I was little to see a dragon with my own naked eyes. To me, the dragon is the most awesome creature after the human creation; it has unique features and also a combination of features you could find with other animals.
The idea of having a massive animal like that, that could serve as a weapon of war and could fly with me anywhere, serving as both transportation and protection, would be what I would wish for to return from extinction if it was ever in existence, which was never the case, I came to realise from my findings, only animals that had some of these characteristics ever existed.
Life was easier when I was still a little child. I remember how my father provided everything I needed, including food, housing and clothing, and he always made sure my school fees were paid on time. When I was ill, my dad would take me to the hospital, or he would ask my mother to take me. The only responsibility I had as a child was to be the good child I was. If I could bring back anything from the past, I would bring back my childhood days.
I can remember when I so much wanted to grow up, have my own house, my own car, and even my own family, and how I longed to be independent from my parents. But growing up, I realised that being an adult is not as attractive as it used to look when I was still a child; maybe our parents made it look so easy, maybe the elderly had hidden the truth from us, so we didn’t have the experience of the terror of life until we were grown.
I know a child in the environment I stay in; one day the child said to me that he is only a child, but he is already facing what an adult is facing; he is having the experience of adulthood even as a child. I know that this boy, if allowed to remain a child or become an adult, will prefer to stay a child, seeing how difficult adulthood looks already from a distance.
I want to bring back the time when all I worried about was being the good child of the house, eating as much food as I wanted to, going outside and playing street football with my friends all day, not worrying about where my next meal will come from, or how I plan to get a new set of clothes, or the daily transportation to work. Sometimes I just want to be a kid again, when I don’t have to leave the house and still have means and ends.
I want to bring back the grace I once had as a child, when my mind was still pure and clean, when I didn’t know evil but only the good that I was taught at home and in Sunday school. I want to be that child who was very naïve about the happenings of the world.
