Running away from his past
Gone, just like a gust
His heart can no longer trust
Society has made it rust
To run far, far away
Mind that cannot be swayed
Go, going out his way
To escape the world of gray
For he dare not stay
Afraid of going stray
A word he dare not say
For he can not afford to pay
Once he makes mistakes
High, too high of a stake
There's danger in every wake
—His life he dare not break
But how long can he last?
Can he outrun the past?
Darkness can he pass
Before he's turned to dust?
“Wherever you go, there you are! You can’t run away from yourself, or the underlying situation, no matter where you go. You won’t find happiness anywhere, unless it’s already there in your heart, and therefore you have carried it with you.”― Andrew James Pritchard, Sukiyaki
