First off a big thanks to the people of SteemIt for accepting my application. This is my first post here and just wanted to state how taken aback I was about the “idea” that powers the SteemIt platform. I remember way back when I had myspace (Anyone as old as me that can remember those times?) and one of my college buddies had first told me about The Facebook. I remember being narrow-minded and balking at him “Dude that shit looks sucky, Myspace is 10x better” (Yes I used to say words like dude and sucky…and like…all….the…time). Ashamed
Fast forward a number of years later and I have had to eat a massive amount of crow. So much crow in fact that I can poop Brandon Lee, full leather, makeup and vengeful demeanor. Tom was dethroned in a big way by Mark. Myspace is now an afterthought full of bedazzled (Blingee anyone?) Photobucket pictures and Top 8 drama. Facebook is king, so much so that fucking Rafiki himself is holding it up to the sun. Everything the light touches and all that good stuff, you know the drill. At the time, it was innovative, Myspace gave people a camera, Facebook gave people a voice along with that camera and it was all she wrote.
After spending a number of days reading up on Steem and the SteemIt platform I can’t help but rewind to that time where I refuted my friends enthusiastic cackling about Facebook being the next big thing, and thinking how stupid I was that I was unable to see that he was right all along. Well my friends, I got burned once definitely NOT getting burned again. STEEM is the next big thing. Social Media has been elevated to form not only a forum with a camera (Thanks Myspace), and a voice (Thanks Facebook), but also its own revolving economy. What a genius premise, full of never ending potential and who’s growth is fueled by the love and care of its community. So what can you take from all of this? Besides the fact that my poop can seriously kill you if you ever cross it or kill its girlfriend, is that I AM EXCITED.
HELLO STEEM WORLD, I HAVE ARRIVED 😊
