Calvin retrieved the ritual book filled with unknown symbols. Investigating eerie groans, I discovered a quarantined man immune to the slitters. The man agreed to translate the resurrection ritual if Calvin takes his boat to the Devil's Reef Hotel and rescues a guest of him.
Calvin approached the ritual book in a cinematic sequence. The moment he picked it up, the intense shaking throughout the area suddenly stopped.
He opened the book, sounding noticeably frightened while reading its contents. Suddenly, a sharp scream echoed from behind him, causing him to stop reading immediately.
With the lights finally coming back on around the place, I had to investigate the source of that noise. I moved a heavy blockade out of the way to get through a door, pressing forward as the eerie groans continued to echo.
Passing a strange, twisted plant, I spotted a dead body being feasted on by slitters on the upper floor, right across from the cranes I had rotated earlier.
Following the noise led to another cinematic sequence. Calvin discovered a man standing on the other side of a door. The man quickly held up his hands and pleaded with Calvin not to shoot, emphasizing that he was human, alive, and currently in quarantine.
Calvin ordered him to turn around very slowly. As the man turned, it became clear he had severed his eyes from the nerve, leaving dead sockets, yet he claimed he had made "improvements" and assured Calvin he was fine.
He explained that he introduced the slitter parasite to his body, but they accepted him, leaving him alive. He claimed the alien and archaic words in the ritual book were now clear to him, acting as a translator, and insisted the slitter hadn't harmed his mind.
He offered to help Calvin decipher the text, claiming he now knew more than any man ever had.
Calvin mentioned that the book contained a ritual for resurrection, but because it was written entirely in an unfamiliar symbolic language, he needed someone to translate the words.
The man agreed to help, but demanded something in return. Calvin had to head to the Devil's Reef Hotel on the other side of the city to retrieve a guest of honor from a lavish gala held there, a woman named Lorelei.
He instructed Calvin to take his boat, accessible through a window, and follow the siren to locate her. Calvin promised he would save her and warned the man not to leave.
Stepping outside the building, I could see the Devil's Reef Hotel looming in the distance across the city, illuminated by firecrackers shooting up into the sky.
Although the man's boat was clearly visible, I spotted a safe room nearby first. I decided to head inside to save my game progress and let Calvin take a well-deserved rest before setting off on the voyage.
That's all for this session. More moments coming soon and thanks for checking it out.
