On my last cat blog, I shared that we welcomed another cute addition to our growing cat family, and it is the birth of these cute kitties.
Last May 15, we were all caught off guard by the message my younger brother told us. I thought it was a prank or one of his usual shenanigans, but lo and behold! When we got home, a bloody Chappy greeted us. Ok, maybe not really, really bloody, but just enough to know that she had just given birth.
That quite caught us by surprise because we didn’t expect her to be pregnant. She just had her third, or perhaps second, miscarriage months ago, so we thought that her bloated stomach was just like part of her post miscarriage look. Turns out we’re all wrong because these three came!
For the first week, they were sleeping most of the time. Unlike the young kittens that we handled before, they’ve somehow adjusted to sleeping in broad daylight. The kittens we had before were really not into sleeping with lights on. So, most of the time, we put them in dark places where they can sleep peacefully. But this trio is different because even with lights or not, they sleep when they feel like it.
Days went on, and finally they’re almost a month old! They’re turning this 15th in June. They’re noticeably much livelier, and now they have names. The black one is Charon, while the gingers are Castor and Pollux. My sister was the one who picked the name Charon, but unfortunately, I find the other names she picked for the gingers really silly, so I picked other names for them. The gingers look like twins if you don’t look closely, so I’m naming them after the brightest stars in the Gemini constellation.
They’re now growing evidently because it's like yesterday when they’re struggling to even stand up straight, but now Pollux can give me a decent pose in front of the cam. Also, we’re trying hard to really prevent Charon from eating the solid cat food. He’s now finding its smell really appealing, but we still can’t feed him hard food. They’re still not at the right age to eat those kinds of food, so for now we’re on our guard mode.
I think that would be for now, cat lovers! Today’s Caturday, so I’m hoping you’re all happy and doing well with your feline companions. See you next week for another Caturday sharing!
Yours nya-ly,
