So, it is one of those days when things don’t exactly go according to plan. It’s a Saturday and for me, it is usually a day when I am licensed to be lazy. But not this very day, my boss has different plans for me, and I get called to work, in the rain and cold.
Anyway, this post isn’t about my shitty day, it is about the fact that one of my favourite persons on steemit, @abigail-dantes, decided with every sense of love and adoration 😋, to nominate me for the #sevendaybeerchallenge created by
@trumpman.
I’m not sure of the kind of inspiration @trumpman had before creating the challenge, but it has been interesting to see the challenge go viral, and trend the way it has.
Well, @abigail-dantes got caught by
@trumpman’s fangs to participate, and I myself, both fortunately and unfortunately got roped into the challenge by
@abigail-dantes.
Well, on my way back home, with the challenge in mind, I had to stop by a mall, to pick up a beer I haven’t tasted, as per the rule.
I've never really been a beer lover, myself. I am more of a social drinker. And on such social occasions I usually stay safe with a brand I am familiar with, and with a beer my taste-buds can cope with. I don’t do the adventurous beer drinking of mixing beers and experimenting liquor during such social outings……because I’ve seen friends and family get f****d up due to liquor…..lolz.
By the way, the one beer I am used to is the very popular Heineken lager, and I can only take it cold. It has been my social drink for a few years now, as I am not a beer person.
I grew up with the mindset that beer drinking leads to a “pot-belly”, so I have always avoided heavy beer consumption, even when drinking socially. Anyway, even though I am quite under the weather due to cold and chilling rain. I'd do my best to fulfil the challenge obligation.
So, I see a beer named HERO, and it quickly occurs to me that @abigail-dantes might love this one, based on its name. Anyway, I grab a can (330ml) and notice that there’s even the bigger one (500ml) and I grab both. I reckon my folks at home would fancy a gulp of the beer, if I end up not finding the beer as ‘nice’ as the name sounds.
About the Beer - It doesn't exactly have much of a history; as I believe it is a relatively new brand in the beer market. So, there isn't much to say about HERO, other than it is a Nigerian beer, produced in the Eastern part of Nigeria. From investigations, the brand is just about 6 years old, in the Nigerian market and is a product of SABmiller's Intafact beverages in the Eastern part of Nigeria.
So, HERO, here we go.....
After a couple of gulps, I can say that HERO tastes like a regular African lager. If you've tried the Heineken lager beer, then you might like this beer. Taste is similar only that the HERO beer, is lighter on the tongue. It doesn't foam much when emptied into a glass or cup, compared to most lagers that I have seen.
As for the aroma or smell, well, I really can’t help with that. Never described a beer before, so this being my first time to attempt a description, I’d say it smells like normal beer…lolz. I am not good at this, I know.
Alcohol content is 5.2%. Not sure what the highest alcohol content for a beer is, but this particular one gives you the tipsy effect, alright.
Will I have this beer again?
Maybe.....when with fellow drinkers
Who would I be nominating?
I'd be nominating @turpsy. A brilliant fellow and a friend who's been in a country known for the Corona Beer. I hope he'd enjoy the challenge.
