I've decided to really push myself out there into the land of strange and try a week of working 9-5 Monday to Friday.
This is something I don't think I've done since I quit full time work in 2018, nearly five years ago now.
I've got to be honest, I am surprised at myself actually wanting to try this out. NB if I didn't want to and I didn't feel like it would work for me, I wouldn't be trying it!
There are at least three benefits to doing this at this stage in my life....
9-5 will force me to actually put in some proper hours, I have been super slack with the main blog over the last few months. I have had the occassional productive week of 30 plus hours, but not many, and I just need to put a bit more time into my main job, I simply need the sit down hours.
9-5 will give me a nice structure to my day - I'm thinking now that it's British Summer Time and and the days are light at either end I can do all of my physical activities at the beginning and end of the day. So maybe this will be just a summer time thing!
9-5 will put me in better sync with everyone else - should make it easier to meet the locals - for example the allotment is something I should be focussing on on Saturday as that's when everyone else is going to be down there. (On that note I really must buy a flask today!).
Of course there will be flex!
It's not gonnna be a purist 9-5 routine: says he sitting here at 8.30 already writing this knowing there's no way I'll be starting work until 10.00 today, but hey, it's day one, I'm allowed a bit of slack right?!?
And I'll be leaving early to go check out my swanky new health club later today too, appointment at 17.00! I think it was 17.00, or was it 17.30? Bugger... if in doubt turn up early I guess!
Thankfully IDM a slow start to getting back to something like normality!
