Two 'disciplined' runs this week, and by disciplined I mean deliberately holding back on the distance and just gradually upping my speed, very gradually.
I went for one longer 5K run, which I intend to keep slowish, and another 4K run, 3.5Ks of which is faster, and I intend to build the pace up gradually here.
I know this is working as I walking around today, two days after my second run feeling 'internally stronger' rather than having an irritating groin-ache like I've had the last couple of months - it's finally gone, and now I can train and it doesn't seem to be coming back!
Weekly running summary:
- Total kilometres this week: 9k
- No. of runs: 2
I also did around 5-10K minimum steps every day, crazy to think I use to walk double this as standard, and then run some, that's just a result of being injured and lockdown too.
Thursday's Run - 5K slow
I don't dislike going slow, it's OK if you go with the flow!
Sunday's Run: 4K getting faster
I was up early for this - around 6.00 a.m. feeling righteous!
This was the first vaguely normal feeling run I've had in more than two months - I did hold back a bit.
Having said that I can tell I've lost a bit of form, there's no way I could have blasted round at a 4.20 pace like I would usually, but I'm sure that'll come back!
Next week's plans
I'm on a run - two rest days - run - repeat schedule atm, so this week's runs are Weds and then Saturday, when I hit my next Friday run I'll up this to three per week - Monday, Weds, Friday.
Slowly slowly, catchy monkey!
