My somewhat belated monthly/ bimonthly early retirement extreme update. Also hopefully my return to regular blogging on the platform... hopefully!
Overall technical summary of progress: Too many pies, but secondary income streams being steady means I'm still on track to quit my job in August and retire from full time work.
The totals are pretty similar for both February and March, so there’s little point reporting the two separately.
** Total average monthly income = £3455** (*approximate figures)
College = £2400
Main blog = £460
Resource sales = £485
Steemit = £60
Wealth returns = £50
This is slightly down overall on my January figures, due to mainly my not being so active on steemit, corresponding with the drop in the value of steem. This will shortly change.
The increasing strength of the pound also didn't help as it means I earn less in £££ from my WP blog.
Resource sales are up, then again, revision season cometh, and these amounts should peak in May/ June, then fall more than half again for July/ August.
It's quite comforting to know that my overall income outside of my main job is now £1050/ month, although I somehow need to increase that by about £500 to meet my anticipated needs and want during the next few years.
It's interesting to note how little of my income has come from Steemit - although given the recent crash in price, this isn't necessarily a bad thing for me.
As with January, the largest area of expenditure was the mortgage:
the good news is that I've recently had an offer on my flat, so this should disappear for a month or so, to return as a considerably lower amount once I buy a cheaper property.
In terms of day to day expenditure, come on, I'm in a liminal phase of my life, so I'm comfort eating. I also blew £200 on a watch believe it or not, my first impulse purchase in many, many years.
treating mortgage as expendture - 37% of my income
treaing mortgage as 'savings*- 67% of my income.
*because this will eventually disappear to 0, ideally by 2023!
I don't include my equity in this, as I need somewhere to live. On the whole, quite a balanced portfolio I think, if a little less healthy since the recent crypto crash...
Even with my outrageous expenditure, my wealth has grown, although all of this is due to go 'up in the air' when I sell my flat and remortgage and jiggle things about....
I also took a massive £12K equity hit on my flat when the actual sale price (I've got to move urgently!) was considerably below what I'd hoped. Not recorded here, can't see the point in talking about equity, I need somewhere to live!
It's also impossible to avoid the uncomfortable conclusion that what you're looking at here is evidence that crypto has been a terrible investment compared to fiat! Of course this says nothing about the long term potential of crypto, and just for the record, I haven't actually converted any of my crypto back to fiat since the crash. In fact, I've bought a tiny bit more.
