Happy Monday and Happy Start of the Month!

May everything you set out to achieve this month become a reality very soon.

And to achieve our goals and objectives, we need to dedicate time and energy to them. But... What happens if we feel that we don't have enough strength for it? What do we do when our motivation is at low levels? So low that even moving a hand seems like a huge effort.

First of all, we must be aware that motivation fluctuates: There are days when you will wake up with so much energy and enthusiasm that you will feel capable of conquering the world, and others when you won't want to get out of bed, just become a caterpillar with your blanket and let the day go by without doing anything.

The lack of motivation can occur for different reasons: from anxiety, stress, depression, burnout to our own insecurities that prevent us from wanting to face the goals and objectives we want to achieve.

When motivation fails, that's when discipline becomes our best ally to continue and avoid giving up on our achievements.

In my case, drawing manga is not always driven by motivation. There are days when I barely wake up and already want to have the pencil in my hand and start drawing, but others when I don't even want to sit at the desk.

On those days, it's time to rely on discipline and pick up the pencil, even if the mood is not there for it. It doesn't matter if what I draw that day is not something I like enough to share on my social networks. The important thing is to practice daily and maintain the habit.

Some of the actions I take to help maintain motivation are the following:

1.- Set clear and realistic goals: Setting specific and achievable goals helps us maintain motivation in concrete achievements. Breaking down big goals into small measurable goals will help us see that we are making progress towards our objectives.
2.- Find personal inspiration: Identifying what motivates us personally is a powerful tool that we can always use when motivation decreases. Find your why... why did you decide that you wanted to achieve that goal: personal improvement, achieving a goal, fame, money, contributing to a cause, etc. Every time motivation decreases, you can remind yourself why you started what you are working on.
3.- Celebrate small achievements: Celebrating every small advance and giving ourselves that pat on the back for the effort made is another way to motivate ourselves and see that there is progress in our project.
4.- Cultivate a positive mindset: Developing resilience and the ability to see the positive side of things helps maintain motivation and give us strength when the situation is full of challenges and obstacles.
5.- Seek support and companionship: Seeking emotional support in difficult times is essential to maintain high motivation. Create your own support group, people with whom you can share your goals and challenges and who you trust.
6.- Establishing routines and healthy habits: A balanced routine that covers different aspects of life and includes rest, physical activity, and healthy eating will raise energy levels and help keep the spark of motivation alive for longer than an unbalanced and over-demanding one that leads to burnout.
7.- Visualizing success: Maintaining the vision of the goal achieved is a powerful motivation tool. Imagining that goal already achieved will give us the strength to continue working towards its achievement.
8.- Seeking external inspiration: Finding in other sources the motivation we lack can be a way not only to inspire us but also to broaden our perspective. Reading books, listening to podcasts, reading success stories of people who have achieved what we want to achieve, motivational quotes will help us keep motivation alive.
9.- Learning from our failures: Setbacks and mistakes are inevitable. They will be present in every activity we carry out. If we adjust our focus and see them as learning opportunities, far from demotivating us, they will give us a new focus and can renew our determination to achieve the goal.
10- Accepting change and adaptation: Maintaining the ability to adapt and flexibility will help us overcome obstacles. Circumstances change and if we are willing to adapt and adjust our goals, we will be able to overcome inconveniences with enthusiasm and strength.

As in any process, there will be days when it will seem impossible to maintain high motivation. It's normal, we are human beings with complex feelings and emotions. However, making an effort and using our logical and intelligent part will help us take some action to reverse that situation and keep the focus on achieving our goals.

Until the next article!
