It was brutally hot day in Houston on Saturday, but I was only in town for 2 days and we wanted to make it by the zoo to see my niece who is working there as an intern this summer. Last summer she was also an intern at the zoo, and had the opportunity to work with the primates.

Most of the animals were hanging out in the shaded areas of their enclosures and were not very active. By 9:00 am it was
already in the 90s, and steadily getting hotter. Several of the chimps were celebrating birthdays and their enclosure had party favors as well as some sort of animal friendly cupcakes.

Its always neat to see these animals and make eye contact with them.

This one sat in this position for a long time, so I have to imagine its comfortable.
