I'm a Memory
I don't understand this life sometimes
How can something cause our demise?
To cause the curtain call so easily
And have others only hear part of the story
There is just so much that goes left unsaid
You never got introduced to the demons inside of my head
These demons haunt me daily
They harass me
They remind me of my failures, flaws, and follies
And after listening to the screaming for so long
I choose to take my life
And now so many say I was a coward
They call me a disgrace
When they have no fucking clue
So who are they?
Are they blind?
Are they deaf?
Are they wearing those rose colored glasses again?
This noose, this knife, this gun
A silence, but a relief
Ever thought that I did not know how to get help?
Therapy, pills, dollar bills could not free me
Sleep for hours, get up and scream my fucking lungs out
The fans love you when you're lookin good
But fall once
Hit one wrong note
Go too mainstream
And they slam the door shut!
Why couldn't I be loved completely?
Come on, let's make this personal
Love me for my depression
Love me for my drug addiction
Love my different sound
Love me, just love me, love me
Not this fake shadow that you see
But the me who lives within
And now it feels I can't breathe
As my tiptoes touch the floor
So many could not see
And so they now bid farewell to me
I have no more days left to see
It's all in my history
I'm a memory!

In loving memory of Chester Bennington. I may have not been sure of your newer music, but I continued to love and respect you. May you be at peace now.
