Peace By Any Means
Maybe I am just getting really old and crudgedy.
I am really tired being denied my right to free speech. We can't say the Lord's Prayer in schools because it may upset some other religious persuasion. However it is certainly alright when the shoe is on the other foot. Religious groups funded heavily by Middle East countries persuade our school systems to provide for their religious believes with total disregard for those of Catholics, Protestants or Mormons. Schools and universities are learning institutions, not churches and should not become religious institutions.
We have become a society afraid to say what is on our mind for fear of legal or government action. An openly racist President is permitted to remain in office yet I cannot make any racist remark. My opinion is mine. We have become a social media society where we have given vast power and control of our person and personal data to companies who dictate to us what can and cannot be said thereby limiting our freedom of speech.
We allow these companies to take a political stance but we as clients or users of their services cannot. We must abide by their rules even at the sake of our own beliefs. We become a captive audience to whatever political or religious bent they decide. Facebook for instance has taken sides with Israel and deems anything anti-Semetic against their user policy. Now suppose they suddenly decide that anything not Catholic is against their user policy.
This is the beginning of the death of net neutrality. Our ISPs and social media giants have the power to dictate what we can retrieve as the truth and restrict information based upon their own political, religious or financial affiliations. Only you can stop this from happening.
I am really tired of Facebook with all it's promised yet compromised diversity and socially acceptable rules denying free speech, the dogs, the cats, the religion, the crime and the never ending stream of non-intellectual diatribe.
I am really tired of hearing about war. Each day we are inundated with stories about bombings and seeing the death counts later leaves me with a feeling of anger. It has become background noise and we have been inoculated by the constant barrage. We have reached the point where we are unaffected by the senselessness of it all. These senseless wars create more terrorists. Can you blame the father or mother for wanting revenge when their child is blown to pieces by a United States drone bomb controlled by someone 5,000 miles away.
There can never be justification for the destruction of countries economies, infrastructures, hospitals, schools, cultural heritages dating back 5000 years and families in the name of profits to be gained by the United States Elite.
The war against Iraq was built on a lie. The war against Libya was built on a lie. The war with Syria is built on a lie. Every major oil company in the United States and Europe now have control over nearly all oil production and profits from Iraq's natural resources. Very little money goes back into repairing the needless destruction of a peoples and their country.
The U.S. Military Complex are the major brokers of international arms sales to the tune of 60 Billion dollars a year. The U.S. government has signed a 350 Billion dollar arms deal with Saudi Arabia alone. Selling arms to despots is good business and affords plausible deniability by using proxy armies to destabilize other countries who as Obama said "Don't do what we want them to".
International Law, the United Nations Charter, the NATO charter and the Organization of American States charter are ignored by the government of the United States of North America and Canada. The United States alone have the right to call the kettle black.
All great empires fail usually caused by an error in judgment by one person. If peace were to break out across the entire world, the U.S. economy would tank therefor it is necessary to create wars, justified or not.
I am tired of hearing about corrupt politicians. I do not think for a second that Abraham Lincoln envisioned our current form of government in Canada, America and other capitalist countries when he said "Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth". Our current governments in Canada and the United States are so hell bent on attempting to coerce, through sanctions, fake news, lies and destabilization tactics including assassinations; democratically elected governments while at the same time their own system of government does not function.
Why would any country such as Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador or Cuba want a government like that? Once Lula is elected, Brazil will be included as well. Why should a select few control more wealth than the other 99.9 percent.
Thomas Jefferson said "the care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government".
How sadly the governments of Canada and the United States have failed in that regard.
We vote and elect people to provide a form of government that is supposed to be for our betterment. Remember that, the next time you sit back watching the television pump out stories of corruption, sexual scandals and whatever other nonsense our elected politicians do for themselves. Remember that, for themselves, not for you and certainly not for your country. Greed is like cocaine, the more you have the more you want.
Andrew Jackson said "It is to be regretted that the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of government to their own selfish purposes".
You cannot make change swinging in your social safety hammock doing nothing. If you really want change, get to know your government representative or your governor or your member of parliament. Go to their office and make an appointment. If he or she, as an elected official does not have time to see you then he or she does not deserve your vote. Don't be put off by his secretary, demand to see him or her and make an appointment. Remember that. Do not vote blindly. Understanding the recipient of your vote's history is essential.
I am tired of hearing about police brutality and the police state. Whatever happened to "Serve and Protect". The police department in most cities are nothing short of corrupted gang more sinister than anything the street can dream up.
Violence is the norm. Getting pulled over by the police should not be a frightening experience but it is. We should feel safe and not fearful but we are. Can anyone white, black or brown say they wouldn't panic if they were pulled over on a dark city street. There are sadistic people in the police force and for that matter armed forces. There are pedophiles, wife beaters, child molesters, thieves, bullies and racists and because they wear a badge and or carry a gun, they are protected to a large degree by internal affairs, the justice system or military tribunals. In other words the fox guarding the henhouse.
If you saw police brutality would you report it?
If you saw police brutality would you record it?
Or would you put your head down out of fear and walk away?
How can anyone witnessing a rape or assault not get involved? However, people walk away, close their doors, pull the curtains closed and go back to watching TV where someone is being raped or assaulted. We must lose our fears, we must become involved. Are you part of the cure or part of the disease?
Like war, violence, domestic or other wise has become entertainment and it is hard for us to process that it is really happening.
So, am I the only one tired of all this excrement? I think not. However, at least I am trying to do something about it.
