Davis is thrilled with the British government's assurance that City Rock Bank will not fail. But Isha was not interested in his financial discussion.
When Isha entered the room and found Davis sitting in his bed reading the stock market review.
"Something exciting?" She asked while entering the room.
"I am reading the report," said Davis. "People queue up to withdraw money from City Rock Bank, which has never happened to any British bank in the past century. Its share price has fallen drastically."
On March 10, 2022, Governor John Revere intervened dramatically to end the crisis, assuming all deposit guarantees with Citibank were to be backed by the Reserve Bank.
"It said that depositors would not lose a single penny, and the action was motivated by the "importance it attaches to maintaining a stable banking system'."
"The coming period should be an exciting period if its shares are bought now, as even Prime Minister Baker has now indicated that he will not allow it to fail."
"The European Central Bank and the US Fed have already pumped in huge amounts of cash to increase liquidity in the market. The Governor of the Bank of England, John Revere, may also have to take a U-turn on his 'not pumping' stance. How was your day?"
"Oh," laughed Isha, "nothing is as exciting as people breaking down to take their cash out of the bank, central bankers pouring in cash, and a booming stock market.
All is calm on the domestic front. But today I heard a case about a different kind of exciting period."
Davis put away his laptop, and looked at her, waiting curiously.
Isha began, "A kindergarten teacher, gives her students homework. They had to tell the class what they found exciting the previous day.
"Now little Johnny had a reputation that he was a bit indecent. So, when the time came for the children to report, the teacher called them one by one. She was a little hesitant to call Johnny, but Johnny's turn had finally come.
He walked slowly up to the blackboard, picked up a piece of chalk, and made a small dot on the blackboard, and then slowly came back and sat down.
Because no one knew what he wanted to say and hadn't uttered a single word, the class was filled with furious curiosity. When the teacher could no longer stand, she asked him to explain what he wanted to tell them.
"It's period," said Johnny, with unusual restraint, pointing to the dot he had made.
"I can see that too!" The teacher said, "But what's so exciting about a period?"
"I don't know that," said Johnny. "But this morning, my sister said she missed one. Dad had a heart attack, Mom fainted, and the neighbor next door shot himself."
