We are all adult. We know what is neat and dirty. But why should the masses contribute to this type of pollution?
Should I say that living at a forest is better than this region? Of course, my emotions on this current situation is unbearable. My staying here is this environment is a dilemma; I lost my money in an investment that was introduced to me. As such, I was forced to relocate to an affordable region. At first, i enjoyed it because it is a nice location that is close to a Federal government owned higher institution. The campus was on break this fueled decrease in population.
When campus fully resumed for this year academic semester, everything gradually cap-side to negative. The population keeps on increasing with students and random people moving in with loads of bags everyday. Most time, I keep hearing jubilation of people from another lodge which likely implies the return of a particular lodge mate. Don’t misunderstand me, please. I’m not against this occurrence as it is usual in a student environment but the painful thing is rapid increase in environment littering of which is now outrageous.
There is a time that we used to have a sweeping roaster. Each occupant must participate twice in a month maximum and one general clean up every last Saturday (Sanitation). But it is unfortunate that new student occupants have grow so stubborn to an extent that 90% have refuse to carry out the daily routine. The remaining 10% of which I’m among now feel reluctant to obey the rules because there was no Called-to-order even after reporting to the caretaker several times.
Few days ago, the sweeping roaster was torn from the wall it was paste. Who did it? Nobody admitted to it.
All this challenge is not only encountered in my lodge but the environment as a whole. I keep wondering why leaders of this community are so absent. This occurrence have result in air pollution as well. In fact, passing through the road is highly discouraging.
Possible solution to this situation in diaspora
Solving environment pollution cause by mismanagement of waste is a simple tasks.
First, the leadership of the community should summon caretakers of each lodge to reimplement daily routine roaster and not insisted on reporting any offender without a reasonable excuse. In order to even eradicate this angle, cleaning fees should be added on rent charge. The money will then be use to pay a cleaner.
Community leaders should always send a representative to visit each lodge every weekend in order to check violators and penalize them immediately.
There should be a law that every occupant must have a waste bin. There should be a general place for disposing waste and government waste management agency should always be informed about it on time.
There should be billboards with inscription such as; Health is wealth, stop littering the environment. Defaulters will be penalized.
Conclusion
Pollution is very harmful to human beings. Wherever we are, it is proper to all join hands to ensure that our community is clean. Waste should always be disposed at appropriate position.
