Today an American Black Vulture scared the heck out of me. To be fair, I think we startled each other!
I was carefully following a beautiful Snowy Egret at a local pond.
When I looked over and saw this face staring at me!
The bushes had blocked my view of him. There he was, an amazing American Black Vulture sunning himself.
His feathers were a sight to behold and contained much more blue coloring than I expected.
I think he decided to give me a full show of his feathers as he slowly pivoted between poses.
Here he was actually watching the Snowy Egret fishing below him.
Thanks for the show, my friend.
Before I walked off I swear he looked like he wanted to shake my hand with his wing. He even knew I am right handed.
He is not alone. He has a posse of about 25 to 30 Vultures supporting him.
Please see my recent post where I viewed a family of American Black Vultures that really warmed my heart.
