🦉 The Eurasian nuthatch or wood nuthatch (Sitta europaea)
📚 Sitta sittē (Greek) mentioned by Aristotle and other ancient Greek. by the authors of the bird, something similar to the woodpecker
📚 europaea (lat.) European
This nimble buddy was trying to hide some food under the bark of a tree.
It's very funny to watch them do it. When they find a seed, they put it in first, fix it, to get rid of the skin and things. And then they hide it, mainly under the bark.
Those nuthatches that live in city parks and are accustomed to people beg from passers-by. And if passers-by treat them with seeds, then nuthatch can hide food directly in the pockets or hat of the one who treated them. This is very funny.
In general, it is surprising that these birds are not afraid of people, regardless of their territory of residence. I met this nuthatch with a photo far beyond the city and civilization, it is a real wild bird. However, he went about his business even when I stood close to him.
