First steps after hibernation 🐿️

The Siberian chipmunk, The Asian chipmunk (Eutamias sibiricus), also called common chipmunk

These guys hibernate around mid to late October, depending on the weather. Until then, they are carefully prepared, making large stocks of varied food for the winter. During the winter they wake up several times to feed.

And they wake up from hibernation in the middle or end of April. I was able to observe the early awakening of this animal. As you can see, the snow has not yet melted, there was a lot of it then, but the sun was already very warm and the temperature was comfortable.
This friend jumped in the snow and inspected the thawed hummocks and bushes in search of old seeds.
After 2 weeks there was already less snow and I again met a chipmunk in this place, maybe even the same one.
