🦉 The long-tailed tit or long-tailed bushtit (Aegithalos caudatus)
- Aegithalos (Greek): tit
- caudatus (lat.): tailed

These small, charming birds with a long tail are called "ladles" because of their resemblance to this kitchen utensil.
They almost always feed on small insects, spiders, eggs, and larvae. But with the arrival of winter, they have to seek out small plant seeds. Unlike tits, they are unable to crush large seeds and nuts, nor can they hold them in their paws.

Starting in autumn, they begin small migrations in small flocks, and are happy to join other bird species in a common mixed flock.
