🦉 The brambling (Fringilla montifringilla)

These birds are found in the forests of my city only in spring. Sometimes they can be found very early, at the end of March, when there is still a lot of snow and the sun barely warms. But they mostly appear at the end of April. At this time, you can hear the primitive songs of males, which consist of only one buzzing sound.

Sexual dimorphism is clearly visible, the female has less bright colours, her head is grey rather than black, the orange chest is not as bright, faded. When summer comes, these birds disappear somewhere. I managed to find them far away in the coniferous forests outside the city.
