This little buddy is one of the smallest woodpecker species. He is the size of a sparrow.
It occurs to me much less often than large woodpeckers, and most often in autumn and spring. It does not gouge the bark of trees like its big brothers, it looks for food where the bark is thin, for example on branches. However, if the tree is sick or old, with loose rotten bark, then he will definitely check it.

Lives in old abandoned hollows of other birds, sometimes makes hollows itself if the wood is rotten and breaks easily.
