I can't even imagine how hard this bird's life is in winter. The bird is sedentary, does not fly away for the winter. She feeds on small insects, their eggs, spiders, which, thanks to her long thin beak, she finds even in hard-to-reach places of tree bark.
But in winter there are no insects. And the bird has a very hard time, because she cannot, like tits or nuthatch, crush seeds and nuts. It remains only to try to look for insects in the cracks of the bark or eat small seeds of coniferous plants.

She examines the trees from the bottom up, moving in a spiral. Unfortunately, she is not able to deftly move around a tree like a nuthatch.
