Protecting your Cryptocurrency - Part 01: Introduction
Hi! I'm Tony (@rasor) and I'm a hacker, well an "ethical hacker"; the difference? I’m paid to break your toys and show you how I did it.
Anyway, straight to the point… There's a lot of stupid advice out there (even from so called #bitcoin / #cryptocurrency experts) which will get your #Crypto stolen.
Let’s face it Cryptocurrency isn’t user friendly, plain and simple it’s up to you to keep your investment safe, if you can’t do this (or be willing to learn the errors of your ways) you might as well donate it to me or sell up now before someone steals it.
Want to wake up tomorrow and find that your laptop hard drive has died or even worse, someone has hacked your computer and taken your valuable crypto?
I'd doubt you aren’t getting it back if this happens, sorry.
As we all know the best thing about cryptocurrency is the #blockchain, it’s decentralised and unregulated; meaning there's there’s no greedy middlemen taking their cut or suddenly changing the rules of its use. How you better know your shit when holding crypto as there’s no one to dispute a transaction once it’s made or bank to call if you want to stop a payment if something seems wrong.
If you forgot a password and have no way to recover it, it’s game over man.
Over the next few articles I’ll be showing you how to keep your cryptocurrency safe(r).
I’ll be covering the following and more:
I will also be explaining some of the tricks of the trade on how someone can compromise your computer as well as some real world experience of stupidity user error which cost them their "coin"
For now, just remember: if it’s easy for you to access and spend your bitcoin it’s probably just as easy for someone to steal them.
Catch you soon!
Tony
