I took these photos in 2001, when camping was still allowed on Pikes Peak. With a camping pass, you were allowed in the evening before the race (PPIHC - the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb) and allowed to stay over night. We drove up to the Devil's Playground at around 12, 780 ft., where I took these shots before getting some sleep before race day.
