We have had some bad deer problems resulting in several of our pear trees dying. We put up electric fences around all of our vineyard and orchard but we still couldn't keep the deer from killing the pears or othe fruit trees.
The other day one of our friends gave us some young pear trees to replace the ones that the deer have eaten. It was nice to be able to replace the dead trees with new ones although it would have been nice if the deer had left them alone.
We began by digging a hole about two feet deep.
Then we filled the hole about halfway up with water, placed the tree in, and began refilling the hole.
After the hole was filled in we dumped more water around the base of the tree to make sure that they got a good start.
Altogether we had to replant six pear trees that the deer killed.
