Greetings friends, nature and photography lovers. This time I want to show you some images of photometeors that I have been able to capture with the camera of my cell phone.

A photometeor is a luminous phenomenon in the sky produced by the interaction of light (refraction, scattering, etc.) with atmospheric elements. The white light coming from a star and the sun is actually a superposition of lights of different colors, electromagnetic waves of different frequency and wavelength.
When sunlight passes through the molecules of the atmosphere and interacts with some elements and particles in the air, the separation and decomposition of white light into the different colors of the visible spectrum occurs.

A very clear example is that of the rainbow, where the light entering the raindrops is refracted and when it leaves the atmosphere it is separated into the colors of the visible spectrum, that is, into the so-called "rainbow colors". This is possible because these colors have different refractive indices and separate at different angles, producing the arc shape.

The variety of photometeors produced by the decomposition of sunlight in the atmosphere is great. Among the most admirable examples, in addition to the aforementioned rainbow, are the double rainbow, the solar halo, which is produced by refraction of light in frozen high clouds, solar halos with circumhorizontal arcs, and clouds with iridescence. These are just a few examples of the impressive and mysterious nature of light and its beautiful manifestation before our eyes. I hope you enjoy it.

All images are my own, captured with my Samsung Galaxy A7 cell phone.
