I am by no means against socialism and most people benefit from it in some way.
Ha ha, well through our conversations, both on chain, and when we met up in real life I kinda got the impression that you were a socialist. What makes me lol and shake my head at a lot of people who become incensed about socialism is that (especially in the USA where I have family) all the things they hate about their society, like paying huge amounts of money for health care, a prison system that is run like a business and extremely high student loans that leave people in debt for most of their professional life... are things that were abolished under a socialist system in the UK 😂
Similarly, I had someone from Venezuela screaming at me about how I didn't know what I was talking about with my opinions about socialism. He went completely spastic when I pointed out that numerous Scandinavian countries have the highest standard of living, yet are run by socialist governments. I pointed out to him why things went to shit in Venezuela (and have in other countries) is to do with corruption, which has nothing to do with which political leaning the particular government at the time has... it is to do with poverty, bad regulation, or non-existent regulation, which creates an environment where unscrupulous people can take advantage.
Lol, but anyway... he had no answer to my points. He just screamed at me ALL IN CAPS that I didn't know because I hadn't lived under a socialist regime. At which point I gave him the same treatment and was like 'IT WASN'T A SOCIALIST REGIME, IT WAS A DICTATORSHIP VEILED AS A SOCIALIST GOVERNMENT.
Anyway, is it small wonder I remain an anarchist to this day? Often people lose the power of deductive thinking, and research-based decision-making when it comes to politics. And our rags of newspapers don't help with encouraging reasonable debate 🤣
Anyway, back to cars 😉
I'm seeing a lot of Teslas around these days, but notice a lot of EVs by other brands too.
That's cool. This is the first Tesla I've seen in Liverpool, but I have seen other EV's around my area charging overnight. One great thing is that there are charging points all over our area, I guess because it is a gentrified area (apart from us social landlord tenants bringing the neighbourhood ambience down 🤣).
I would also love some solar panels, and I think that the truth of how we can possibly just about bring our planet back from the brink of disaster is to make all vehicles run from electricity, and invest (on a global scale i.e. all governments chipping in) to create massive renewable energy power plants from water, wind and sun.
It ain't rocket science, but there are shareholders to consider and all that jazz.
Fckn people will destroy our planet to maintain their opulent lifestyle. But they don't need to, like my neighbour whose hand I shook yesterday when he noticed me taking pics of his car (I think he thought I was on a steal-to-order mission at first 🤣), anyway I told him I was entering an amateur photography contest and showed him that I lived next door and he was like "Ok m8, snap away."
Nice guy, and very environmentally conscious as the hope st hotel has solar panels on top of the penthouse suit.
Thanks for reading my blog @steevc and for your meaningful comment 👍
