HOW TO: Increase your collection power effectively
First things first, I probably got into this game the same way as many here did. I went out to google and searched "Top 10 P2E Games 2020" and clicked on the first hit. Once I got through the top 10 list I decided to check out Splinterlands. After making an account I went through the market to see loads of cards with BIG prices as I was thinking: "I could never afford cards with these prices".
After playing through a few games I noticed there's a limit to the rank you can reach according to your Collection Power(DEC burn rate of your card collection). Just to get to Silver league from Bronze you needed to have a total of 15.000 CP, which of course I did not have at that point.
So how do we acquire this power? Well of course, by either buying lots of cards or playing the game with limited earnings waiting for your luck to strike to get enough power to jump into silver. After learning about collection power I decided to invest 50 bucks into some cards. The first mistake I made was buying the cards I liked and thought were good. After spending the 50 bucks I reached about 2000 Collection Power, which is a bit over 10% needed to get into Silver. At this rate I needed to spend about 500$ just to get into Silver... that's absurd!
Hopefully did you not make the same mistake as I did, as I am about to show you a tool named PeakMonsters, where you compare and buy cards according to their Cost / Collection Power Ratio. Once you go to PeakMonsters and log in using your preferred method and go to the tab buy, you can sort the cards based on Cost / Collection power.
As you can see the Twilight Basilisk card here has a cost ratio of 1 USD ~ 344.828 CP. So if you would buy only these cards you would spend about 43$ to get into Silver League, which is a hell of a lot better than spending 500$ to get there.
There are a lot of things you need in Splinterlands, and Collection Power might be one of the most important. Buying Power according to CP/Cost Ratio on Peakmonsters before buying cards you want to play is a good strategy to get into Silver with the least amount of investment, as you can progress through Bronze with only your starter cards.
