Few days before Ramadhan is leaving. Last few days that is so different from last year and years before.
Normally, in some of the main mosque in this city, the place will be filled with people doing Itikaf in the last 10 days. Those who have ever joined the itikaf, I believe they will plan in again in the coming ramadhan. But this year, there is no such thing.
Family will be coming home one by one, while those who stay in this city for study, for instance, will start be leaving to their hometown, be with their loved one. This year, some people do, some people don't. Some people will be missing home, while some other will have to stay as the front guard during this pandemic.
If only people would understand how terrible the situation actually is. I would probably won't be scared that much, but after a very dear friend of mine passed away because of the virus, I know it's real. For sure.
I just read some news where a country open their school again, and numbers of student and teacher got sick aka positive covid 19. We can't avoid our own country, where people gathered (as they wanted to go out of the red zone) in the airport, and hundreds of them are positive already.
I went out with my husband to buy some household needs around 10 pm tonight, places where outlets are, are filled with youngster hunting their Eid needs. Coffee shop, (unfortunately) never empty. Forget about wearing a mask or not.
I am not saying I am way better than those who walk around the city without using mask and avoid social distancing. Yesterday, last week, few weeks ago, there were gathering in my big family. Different part of the family "had to" make whatever kind of gathering and we all had to attend. The first couple of them, we had to lied so we wouldn't have to attend, the next one, they keep calling until we showed up. And the last one, we were there while keep getting insinuation for almost never showing up.
I know it's not just my family. Many families out there are doing the same. Pictures of people gathering or eating outside are everywhere. One invitation to another to join any kind of gathering keep coming.
Ramadhan is leaving, we do our best to spend the last few days with the best 'ibadah' we could do. Ramadhan is leaving, but WHF is not ending yet people.
Stay alert
Hope the world will get better soon.
