Yesterday i wrote about many people leaving, and so many houses in suburbia being left empty. But, this one is an even bigger cause. The Great Migration.
There is a movement happening now. Something so subtle that most people don't even know to look for it. People are moving to be with their tribe, their "family".
From the future, looking back, we will call it the Great Migration
People are going to form into small communities. Most will be less than 100 people. So that everyone will know everyone else. Not just as some blur, but really know them. Their names and who they were. And people will find that connection that they have been looking for all their lives. That connection that is utterly missing in a large city.
And most of these will not stay in a city. Although some may do things like buy an entire apartment complex. They will move to where they can grow their own food. Where they can be very self sufficient.
Movement
The ones who move first will be the people who are considered to be the more capable. People who could afford houses, who had decent jobs, but decided to leave.
This will cause the cities to degrade faster. Many of these people will be said to have read "the writing on the wall" and got out just in time. But, none of that will really be true, what they left for was the pull towards finding their "family".
Some people will move across town, other people will move across the world. These groups will find each other as if it was predestined.
Each group will not just accept people because they are good at fixing this or that, but will make sure there is a true compatibility in morals and thinking.
And, the thing that the cities will notice is that a hundred people left. And many houses were left vacant. A single group is not really much in a large city, however there will be many groups forming. And each group leaving will leave a hole.
But we tried communes!
Communes let in lazy, pot smokers, without structure that defined "if you don't work you don't eat"
The "families" of the future will be far more particular about who they let in.
The "families" will be quite particular about your duties to the community.
The "families" formed first will be of mostly productive people, who have seen the writing on the walls.
Basically, it starts different and it ends different.
Back in the "Summer of Love" people were trying to flee structured society, and get out from under responsibility.
Today, we see people fleeing the hedonistic, immoral, mess that is city people on welfare.
So, we are starting with a different class of people.
Further, we have automation that makes growing our own food really easy.
If we couple that with "family" structures that are very energy efficient, with passive heating and cooling.
Even if the "family" has a bunch of non-working eaters that have to be watched (we call them children/babies) the community will be able to feed everyone. While everyone has less than a 20 hour work week.
No more arguments
This is a weird statement coming from someone who is arguing on the internetz.
Thing of an old school church. Basically, everyone believe the same things. Has the same rituals. Has the same meanings for words. And so, the basis of communication is quite smooth.
People will form "families" with people who believe a lot like them.
There will be none of this neo-liberal vs conservative bullshit. Even if there are neo-liberals AND conservatives in community.
- If you can't get along, you aren't allowed in the community.
- Most of the current arguments are about who will provide the food. And in a self sufficient community, the members will know exactly who is providing the food. People will not be in an existential fear of starving state. And since there are people, right there, supporting the community, they will feel supported.
- As we mature in our ability to negotiate, we will have negotiations, not arguments. Especially about things that actually affect us.
- Arguments are fun, as long as no one feels they are going to be kicked out for bringing up Kierkegaard or Niche. These are how we work out more issues in the future.
- There will be a lot more allowance give for: you do your thing over there, and we will do our thing over here.
- The "families" will take care of all of their internal "legality". Self protection. Self judgement.
The neo-liberal and the conservative arguments will no longer be national fighting points. Further, we will see people elected that will good at working out problems between the two groups while understanding that they both have different ways that they think. And respect will be give to each core belief.
So, from the city's viewpoint, the good people will be leaving. If they are watching carefully, they will see them leaving in clumps. If not, they will just see a continuous stream of people leaving the cities. First a trickle, then a stream, then a river.
And seriously, it will be the people who could afford a house. So, as the city is collapsing on itself, and pretending everything is ok. More and more houses will be put on the market. Taking almost any offer they actually get.
Depending on where we are in the real estate collapses, the people leaving may just abandon their houses. Or "give" them to anyone who is staying. You know, that chicken who just can't accept that the sky is falling? I believe that so many boomers will hold onto their house all the way into the scene of the crash. Many of them no longer have the neuroplasticity to give up the life they built, to start a new, unproven life elsewhere.
Basically, those who could pay for a house will have left, and those who do not honor property rights will be staying. Meaning, suburban house prices will be nada.
Everyone will be forming into "families"/tribes. Just, those who do not find and get into families by choice, will be left to get into families of those who are left. Kinda like gangs in LA.
The real estate market will be completely destroyed forgotten.
