Located in front of the monastery, next to the yew river, we can appreciate this monument that represents the progress, origin and explorations of the Portuguese state. It was built in 1940 with the authorization of the former dictator of Portugal named Salazar.

Between the monastery and the monument of the discoveries, there is a division of a beautiful park that was inaugurated last year, which has a beautiful fountain with classic Portuguese architecture, an area of ducks, turtles, fish, and a small botanical area. There are also small stores selling food and souvenirs.

Entre el monasterio y el monumento de los descubrimientos, se encuentra una división de un hermoso parque que fue inaugurado el año pasado, que cuenta con una hermosa fuente con arquitectura clásica portuguesa, un área de patos, tortugas, peces, y una pequeña área botánica. También suelen encontrarse pequeñas tiendas donde venden comida y recuerdos.

In the botanical area of the park we can find different types, plants, fruits and vegetables, all marked with an informative sign. I was surprised to see strawberries, pear and lettuce. I also managed to take a picture of a beautiful lily. This plant has medicinal properties. We can also find the famous Lily flower. It is an aromatic plant and it is common to see them in cosmetics such as perfumes, creams, shampoo, moisturizers, etc.

En el área botánica del parque podemos encontrar diferentes tipos, plantas, frutas y verduras, todas señaladas con un cartel informativo. Me sorprendió ver plantadas fresas, pera y lechuga. También logré tomar una foto de un hermoso lirio. Esta planta tiene propiedades medicinales. También podemos encontrarnos con la famosa flor Lily. Se trata de una planta aromática y es común verlas en cosméticos como, perfumes, cremas, champú, hidratantes, etc.

Belém is not only famous for its history, architecture and landscapes. We also have the first factory of cream cakes since 1837. This factory has not turned off its ovens to prepare, one of the typical and famous desserts of Portugal. The factory that has as name 'Belém cakes' generates a great confusion because the tourists, when they go to buy, think that they are a specific dessert and different from the Portuguese cream cake, which we can find in any cafeteria.

Belém no solo es famosa por su historia, arquitectura y paisajes. También tenemos la primera fábrica de pasteles de nata desde 1837. Esta fábrica no ha apagado sus hornos para preparar, uno de los postres típicos y famosos de Portugal. La fábrica que tiene como nombre 'pasteles de Belém' genera una gran confusión porque los turistas, al ir a comprar, piensas que son un postre específico y diferente al pastel de nata portugués, que podemos encontrar en cualquier cafetería.
