How is everyone doing?
The memories of my school days are still fresh in my mind. I remember how I was an energetic kid. Enjoying life, studying, following trends, getting bullied and demotivated, fulfilling expectations and saving my image... I did not think about the goal of my life and other important stuff. I never invested in my improvement.
It was untill I met some spiritual people in my college and I started living almost like a monk, almost for 6 years. Here I started more introspection and started thinking about the goal of my life and I started in investing in myself.
I am going to share something important and extremely relevant. The following is a mixture of concepts from whatever I learners during my monk life and from one of my mentors.
It is called THE GOLDEN CIRCLE (original idea: Simon Sinek)
The Golden Circle is a set of three concentric circles. These three circles are characterized by three questions.
Outermost circle is characterized by the question "WHAT"?
The middle circle is characterized by the question "HOW"?
and the inner circle is characterized by the question "WHY"?
With regard to whatever we do, however insignificant it might be, These three fundamental questions are always related to the activity. One must ponder over these questions before attempting the activity. We must start from the inner circle to the outer circle.
WHY is the most fundamental question we must ask to ourselves with respect to any activity we are doing. Whether it is a one time event a repetitive event. WHY we are doing it? This answer is of utmost importance. If we are clear with the WHY, it does not matter if we are not clear with WHAT and HOW... This question is the purpose of why we are investing our valuable energy into anything. VERY FEW people know WHY THEY DO WHAT THEY DO. According to general observation, people just flow with the trend giving less heed to meaning and purpose of there lives. If someone talks about all these things, to them it seems vague and some of them even look these people down. In India it is very common. People interested is these topics are generally spiritual. Spiritual people are clear minded and know the purpose of the whatever they are into. I can say this with experience.
If we are clear with our WHY, we will not lose our vision and target. We will never be misled.
Next , we must ask HOW.
HOW TO DO WHAT WE DO. This question is more important than WHAT but less important than WHY. Some people know HOW THEY DO WHAT THEY DO. This question is related to excellence of an event one does. If someone is just beginning an event, this question will lead him to learn and research and invest. When we are clear with WHY and HOW both, we are then prepared to start or redirect ourselves with respect to the activity.
The next question is WHAT. Being clear with WHY, HOW and now if we are clear with WHAT, that's it. We are ready to break the ground. Now we are in best state of mind to do anything.
"WHAT" makes its way through "HOW"
and "HOW" makes its way through "WHY".
Again, the most important question is WHY. This motivates us. But Sadly, we may be motivated wrongly. We must be careful. Therefore we must Learn this skill under the GUIDANCE OF A TRUSTED MENTOR.
I heard a nice example. The WRIGHT brothers were able to fly the plane with less manpower, less funding and resources. But, they had a so called rival. Rober Langley. He was ployed by army and was hugely funded, had man power and had all the needful resources. It is said that he quit after learning bthe success of Wright brothers and was motivated by greed.
Whereas, Wright brothers were motivated by the will and desire of serving the mankind.
Myself too see students lacking meaning and purpose, lacking the WHY. Their immaturity due to age is understandable but I think we must teach them this concept at an early age. It does not come automatically. If we let things happen automatically, society just inputs SHIT into their mind. They become average. Just blindly following trends setup by society. We must train them.
Remember: WHY--HOW--WHAT
