ANTICIPATE MAGIC AND RANGED ATTACK AT BRIAR PATCH RULESET

Welcome back to my blog, @queen-silvia. In the first week of April 📆 2023, the theme of the Battle Mage Secret Weekly Challenge is Briar Patch which has the same effect as if a player use Mylor Crowling 🍃 as a summoner. Briar Patch is belong to the new rulesets along with "Fire and Regret" and "Counterspell" ruleset. All those kind of rulesets are returning the damage back to the attacker. how hard the damage returned is depending on how high the damage given by the attacker and whether the player use amplify or not. The amplify will definitely increase the damage given to the attacker. Alright, before we are talking further about Briar Patch, Let discuss about the basic concept of Briar Patch first :

What is Armored Up?

  Briar Patch : All monsters receive the Thorns ability at the start of the battle. Enemy monsters that use melee attacks receive damage back.  

Based on the description above, we already understand that playing melee monster ⚔️ is risky because they will get the melee damage by -2 no matter how high or low the melee damage given. So what's the best way 💯 to play in this ruleset? the answer is simple, since there are only 3 types of attack (melee, ranged and magic) so what we need to do is to use monsters or summoners who have the ability to anticipate ranged and magic attacks 🔮. The table below shows which summoners we can use in this ruleset :

The choice of summoners depend on the splinters available and mana. Some important things to note, skilled players or "total attack" player like to use melee monsters even the ruleset is briar patch . It's still possible because they are protecting their melee monsters with triage or repair ability by other monster so all possibilities are still might happen.

Alright, in this article, I'll show a strategy on how to win battle with Briar Patch easily by anticipating magic and ranged attack at the same time. I hope you like it, Enjoy ~

Rulesets

There are 3 rulesets in this battle, Here they are :

Healed Out	Stampede	Briar Patch

Well, The most dominant ruleset in this battle is Briar Patch because it most likely eliminates the posibility for melee monsters to be used in the battle so we can only focus to anticipate magic and ranged monsters in the battlefield. Stampede has least impact on the battle because it will only being activated if melee monsters killed the target meanwhile the chance to use melee monster is very low so we can ignore this ruleset (Most of the trample ruleset are melee monsters).

Another ruleset which has an impact to the game is Healed Out . It will make all of monsters in the battle would not be able to be healed by any heal abilities such as triage , or self heal or tank heal . However, another defensive ability such as repair is still available in this ruleset so using team with Grand Master rathe is one of great option in this ruleset because the void armor will protect Monster's health points.

Mana and Splinters

The mana of the battle is 31. Not high but not pretty low too so I would say it's mid to low mana battle ⚔️ where we can still fill all of the 6 slots in the game. based on the rulesets, some recommended summoners are Quix the Devious 🐉, Bortus 💦, Immortalis 🍃 and Lir Deepswimmer💦. Since the mana is not that high, I won't use summoner who costs more than 4 mana and since the heal ability would not be available so I think earth splinter is not an option hence the better option is to use Quix the devious 🐉 to anticipate ranged attack monsters and then use monsters with the abilities to anticipate magic 🔮 damage.

What are all of those monsters? Well, below section will explain all of them in detail, started from the summoners, first until the last (sixth) monster :

Summoner

Level 3 Quix The Devious

Tips 💡

Use Quix the devious to reduce the opponent ranged damage but never use him in reverse speed ruleset.

First Monster

Level 6 Unicorn Mustang

I used Unicorn Mustang 🐎 as the tank monster in the first position because he has some cool abilities to counter magic 🔮 attack like Void

Tips 💡

Unicorn Mustang is one of the best tank monster with his Void and Magic reflect ability. 4 Melee makes him a great destroyer too

Second Monster

Level 6 Elven Mystic

The second monster is Elven Mystic. This monster is also used to counter magic team with his silence

Tips 💡

Silence ability reduce all of the opponent magic by -1. Try to have silence, demoralize or headwinds ability in the battle.

Third Monster

Level 6 Sporcerer

The third monster is Sporcerer. This monster has the same skill as Elven Mystic, Silence

Tips 💡

Sporcerer is good to be used when the opponent have armor because the rust ability will reduce the armor by -2.

Forth Monster

Level 3 Queen Mycelia

She is my favorites monster because of her great ability. The amplify

Tips 💡

Queen Mycelia is very great to counter opponent's attack with his amplify ability. her protect and triage abilities are very nice for defensive purposes too.

Fifth Monster

Level 2 Epona

The fifth monster is Epona. Well, this monster is very useful at low and mid-to-low mana battle because of her ability, strengthen

Tips 💡

Use Epona at low and mid-to-low mana battle because she will give additional +1 health point to all of friendly monster.

Sixth Monster

Level 3 Doctor Blight

The last monster is Dr. Blight. many people said that this monster is like summoner because he should be used in any mana battle ⚔️ where the magic 🔮 monster is available. He is such a god because of his abilities. The poison ability will give -2 health point at the target if it's being activated, The camouflage

Tips 💡

Use Dr. Blight whenever the magic monster is available for the battle. At gold league he is such a god monster with his poison, scavenger and camouflage abilities.

Alright, all the line up has been explained, Now let's move to the battlefield and see how to anticipate magic and ranged attack properly in a single match.

This is the daily chests I got on April 1, 2023. I am happy with it because I got the Life Soulbound legendary, Aves Sturgis 🦉, since he can give magic attack to monsters (adjacent to him) who does not have magic attack. Let see whether this card is useful because my gameplay is always countering the opponent's attack. The next precious card is 5 BCX Octavia Shadowmeld💀. She can summon a gladius card on ranked battle so It would be pretty cool to collect her until gold level, the league where I compete everyday and fight for leaderboard each season. The last precious card is 4 BCX firecaller🔥. This card is special because of his martyr ability. the rest of the cards are useful but the 3 i mentioned earlier are the greatest.
