Friends, today I want to share this amazing hiking experience from Caldas to Angelópolis.
We started with the group from the La Valeria area. From there, we joined a main road that led us toward Angelópolis. Along the way, we came across a charming forest full of pine trees—a truly beautiful place that gave us a moment of peace and connection with nature. There, we took a short break to meditate and recharge our energy.
We then continued along the Nicanor route, a more demanding stretch with steep inclines, mud, and several challenges that tested our endurance, but also made the experience much more exciting.
This type of hike, similar to trekking, requires preparation. It’s important to wear comfortable clothes and shoes, bring a walking stick, and carry a backpack with water and snacks.
We kept moving forward and made a stop at a small shop where we rested and had something to drink. After that, we continued toward the place where we would have lunch. We passed through another small village and finally arrived at a trout farm, where we were surprised by the rain for about an hour. Luckily, we were able to take shelter.
While there, we took the opportunity to have lunch and drink a hot coffee, as the weather was quite cold. Then we continued the route along a river, until we reached a climb that led us to a concrete staircase. This connected us to open fields, and from there we followed an unpaved road until we finally arrived in Angelópolis.
It was a long but very rewarding hike: approximately 28 kilometers, starting at 7:00 a.m. and finishing at 5:00 p.m. Without a doubt, an excellent way to get back into it after two months.
Thanks to all the people who motivated me to keep going, even when it gets tough. 💚
