Hello steemians,
My name is Michael B. I'm a 23 years old college student with a learning disability caused by chemo and radiation for the brain cancer I had when I was 13 years old. I've been trying to take 3 or 4 classes every semester at my local community college to get enough credits to try to transfer out to a University but to no avail. Hopefully I'll be going to Cal State Fullerton next semester. I've been going to Fullerton College since 2012. Universities now have set ridiculous standards for transferring from a community college, especially if you're a conservative white male.
I have over 60 units to transfer, but I also have to take all of these extra classes because the available engineering majors are actually impacted and I guess they would prefer that I be there as little as possible. So, the classes I've been taking at Fullerton College are classes I would rather take at CSUF, but they still haven't accepted me.
Paying for classes has been getting harder and harder since I've gone through the little savings I had from working some odd jobs here and there. My credit card bills are starting to get a little high because I was laid off in August before last semester and my last paycheck was able to cover the last semester, but I've burned through my savings paying for food, rent and insurance.
Now, my cars broken down and it costs 10x more to fix it than it's actually worth. That's what happens when you own a 26 year old car. I was able to get a few hundred from a recycling place by my place, but that barely scratches the surface. Luckily, my parents let me move in with them, but I still in pay rent and health insurance. My premiums skyrocketed last year because of my history with brain cancer.
Luckily, I'm only in the hole about 1000 dollars now because I was able to save enough. So, I'm going to my Steemian community, begging for any help I can get. If people could upvote or reshare this post, maybe even send Bitcoins or Ether. I'd even post a link to my Paypal. I'd be willing to pay it back and I definitely pay it forward. I'm always trying to donate some money to any kind of charity that I might come across. I've volunteered and donated a lot for the American Cancer Society because they helped us out when I was sick.
