This new edition of Ladies of Hive invites me to take a much-needed break from my routine. Looking at myself honestly and reflecting on the life I’ve built, the decisions that have brought me here, and the way I understand my purpose is an exercise in absolute honesty with myself. Today, I answer both questions with the serenity of someone who has learned to listen to herself and honor her own path.

1️⃣ Is my life a reflection of others’ opinions, or have I truly done what I’ve wanted and dreamed of?

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that my life hasn’t been a reflection of what others thought, but neither was it a perfect plan drawn up exactly to my liking. It was marked by tough decisions, sacrifices made for love, and the need to get by amid very difficult circumstances.

For years, I was a sales manager and I loved my job passionately. The hours flew by, and I’d often find myself at the office until 10 p.m., caught up in meetings and business trips. It was my world, and it made me happy. However, life took a different turn when my dad became seriously ill. With all the pain in my soul, I had to quit my job to care for him. I thought it would be temporary, but life didn’t work out that way, and after a year, Dad passed away. I thank God for the privilege of having been by his side until the very end.

Then I got married, became pregnant, and devoted myself to my baby. But when my son was just six months old and I was ready to reenter the workforce I’d missed so much, my mom suffered a stroke, fractured her hip, and ended up on dialysis three times a week. As if that weren’t enough, the man I’d married decided to act like an irresponsible child: while I was dealing with her illness and raising my son, he just wanted to party, drink, and spend money on that.

My life was reduced to caring for my young son and my mom in her wheelchair. It wasn’t easy, but I did it with all the love in the world. Thanks to a friend, I landed a remote job because I needed to do more than just be a mom and a caregiver—until, four years later, my mom passed away in my arms from a massive stroke.

I’m not where I am today because I “sought my freedom.” I’m here because I survived, because I loved without limits, and because I had the strength to hold it all together on my own when others failed. That’s my true story.

2️⃣ “Identify your talent, and your purpose will reveal itself.” How many times have I asked myself why I’m here in this world, or what my purpose in life is?

image.png

I’ve asked myself countless times what my purpose in life is, especially during the times when I had to put my career on hold to be there for my family. In the midst of that dedication, I discovered that my talent lies in words and communication. Writing hasn’t been just a hobby; it’s been my outlet for processing reality, staying grounded, and connecting with others through empathy and truth.

However, for me, purpose isn’t something static. I deeply value writing and the creative space I’ve built, but I also hold onto the desire to grow professionally once again. I have years of training and experience in sales that haven’t faded over time; that’s why my purpose today also includes finding a professional opportunity where I can be useful, contribute my work, and feel productive again.

Writing reconnects me with who I am, but continuing to seek paths for growth and work is what keeps me moving forward.

Living true to my own voice means looking back without resentment and looking forward with my head held high. My story hasn’t been easy, but it belongs entirely to me. Being here today, sharing my truth unvarnished and with the peace of mind that comes from having always acted with love and dignity, is proof that every step has been worth it.

Thank you for sticking with me this far 💛

Era mi mundo y me hacía feliz.

Luego me casé, quedé embarazada y me dediqué a mi bebé.
