We are on cyclonic alert, for a tropical storm that is passing to the west of Cuba a few kilometers from the island.
Actually it does not offer a danger of great damage but abundant rains, so as I should mostly be at home today I decided after doing some exercise to start painting, which is one of the indoor activities I enjoy the most.
The theme this time almost chose me, because on Saturday while I was picking up my work on Prado Street, I took a picture of the Capitol where you could see a cloudy sky and the surrounding streets, which since I saw it seemed to me something super pictorial, so I took the opportunity to make an interpretation of that photograph.
As you know we can't waste anything here, I'm painting on a canvas that I had already used but I didn't like the paint so I'm going to recycle it 😅😅
I started as usual by separating the areas to get an idea of the proportion and shapes in the format.
I decided to make the Capitol larger and stand out to make it stand out as the central figure of the work.
The oil technique allows us to cover what has already been painted with relative ease, so it was the right one for this piece, I created with brushstrokes the trees and elements that form the Prado promenade, and also the surrounding buildings. I used a reduced palette without so many colors or too many contrasts to create the atmosphere of the cloudy day.
When I had the main buildings and points of interest, I just added some details, some shades, lights and shadows, and the sky was saturated a little to emphasize the clouds and to highlight the golden dome of the Capitol, not something that in real life I like very much but in cloudy days it looks very nice indeed.

Estamos en alerta ciclónica, por una tormenta tropical que está pasando al oeste de Cuba a poco kilómetros de la isla.
En realidad no ofrece un peligro de grandes daños pero si abundantes lluvias, así que como mayormente debía estar en casa hoy decidí luego de hacer algo de ejercicios ponerme a pintar , que es una de las actividades interiores que más disfruto.
La temática esta vez casi me eligió a mi , pues el sábado mientras recogía mis trabajos en la calle Prado , hice una foto del Capitolio donde se veía un cielo nublado y las calles aledañas , que desde que la vi mee pareció algo super pictórico, así que aproveche la ocasión para hacer una interpretación de esa fotografía.
Como acá no se puede desperdiciar nada , estoy pintando sobre un lienzo que ya había utilizado pero no me gustó la pintura así que lo voy a reciclar 😅😅
Empecé como siempre separando las áreas para llevarme una idea de la proporción y las formas en el formato
Decidí hacer el Capitolio que fuera más grande y sobresaliera para hacerlo destacar como figura central de la obra
La técnica del óleo nos permite tapar lo ya pintado con relativa facilidad, así que era la indicada para esta pieza , fui creando a golpe de pincelas los árboles y elementos que forman el paseo del Prado, y también los edificios circundantes. Utilice una paleta reducida sin tantos colores ni demasiados contraste para crear la atmósfera del día nublado.
Cuando ya tenía los principales edificios y puntos de más interés , solo fue agravar un poco de detalles, algunos matices, luces y sombras, y el cielo lo sature un poco para enfatizar las nubes y que destacará la cúpula dorada del Capitolio, no es algo que en la vida real me guste mucho pero en días nublados se ve muy bonita realmente.
