Greetings to all Hive users and SWC athletes! I hope you are having an excellent holiday season. On this occasion, I want to share a session marked by extreme consistency, where commitment overcame any celebration.
Dear readers, the true difference between an average athlete and an outstanding one lies in their ability to maintain focus when the rest of the world stops. We went to the park in the middle of Christmas Eve, during the afternoon of December 24th. People rarely train on days like these, but for us, discipline knows no barriers or limits. While many were already preparing for dinner, my student Ronnield and I were under the bars.
I assigned my student Ronnield again a back lever routine to "spam" this skill. This term refers to a form of volume training followed by the best athletes in the world, based on the constant repetition of the element. We have to create endurance and strength in the back lever quickly in order to accelerate progress, adapting the nervous system to the tension of the lever intensively.
To accumulate that time under tension, I ordered him to perform several one-leg back lever holds. We weren't looking for quick attempts, but long holds of at least 10 seconds to solidify the base. Subsequently, to release accumulated tension and work on joint mobility, I then assigned him to perform a couple of skin the cats, maintaining control throughout the range of motion.
Then we moved on to the real challenge: doing a full back lever hold. After the previous volume sets, Ronnield felt connected to the exercise and did these last holds with a much better technique, giving a very satisfactory result. Seeing his body completely horizontal and stable on such a special date was the best closing for the day. It is gratifying to know that, as the year ends, his level keeps rising.
Without anything more to add, I bid farewell. Stay tuned for future posts! Until next time!
