Hector Lavoe is one of the essential salsa singers, truly an icon of this musical genre that so proudly represents all of us Caribbeans around the world, especially Puerto Rico, my second homeland, where he was born in the historic city of Ponce, a land naturally rich in true musical talents, just like my entire Enchanted Island (Isla del Encanto).

Here in this photo, where I didn't miss the opportunity to take a picture next to a giant print of 'El Cantante de Cantantes' (Singer of Singers) in Guavate, the region of the 'lechoneras' (pork roasters) in the Puerto Rican municipality of Cayey (I'll soon tell you about Guavate and its universally recognized lechoneras).

The truth is, this photo means a lot to me, due to the admiration I have for the great salsa singer and for Puerto Rican and Caribbean Salsa in general, because I truly enjoy visiting Guavate, because the giant print was made from the cover of Hector's second solo album, titled "De ti depende" (It's up to you), where, in addition to the title track, two other anthemic songs in the history of the musical genre appear, namely "Hacha y machete" and "Periódico de ayer" (Yesterday's newspaper). And what is most personally significant to me is that the album was recorded with Fania Records in 1976, the very year of my birth...

That's why I treasure this photo like a relic and now share it with great pleasure with all of you, my esteemed Hiver friends, on this heartwarming Throwback Thursday (TBT)...

Thank you very much for reading and for sharing this cherished photo with me... Receive my best wishes and I bid you farewell until a new encounter with memory and recollections.
