Jazz has always established itself as the most respected genre, one is always thought to be snobbish/complicated if bringing up how Jazz is their favorite genre of music. Uptempo, lounge, big band, many subgenres of Jazz exist but they all seem to be at the higher end of the musical spectrum when it comes to elegance and virtuosity.
First of all, not many have learnt to appreciate Jazz. The complexity of Jazz goes deeper than most genres, with it’s playstyle mainly focused on improvisation and “feel”, it’s hard to categorize when one particular playstyle is good or bad without a basic understanding of musical knowledge.
Most popular form of jazz nowadays would be from the early 1930s-1940s, mostly being played in cafes, it provides a soothing feel to wherever hosting it’s sounds, and generally brings an atmosphere to a calm. I personally feel that Jazz is the modern equivalent to Classical music, with it’s intricate melodies played along multiple selections of instruments.
