Good morning Steem!

For those of you who have met/engaged with me on steem.chat, especially recently, will likely have heard about a donation I have been expecting from work from a gentleman who updated his home office. I've been just a tad bit excited about it.

IT ARRIVED!

(ok maybe more than a tad bit excited)

This post will be a general post with photos and what the items are. This will be part of a series of posts that talk about everything from refurbishing the computer to setting up the external RAID storage boxes.

Any questions or anything you want me to go into detail on through the series, feel free! I love to talk about this stuff and learn new things!

Enjoy!

First Hard Drives, lots of them:

Our Shop will use some in our refurbished systems, upgrade some of our office systems, and likely sell some on our Amazon account. They are all enterprise drives most of them are 4TB.

Second are some expansion cards (while we don't have a direct use for them at this time, they will be used as a teaching aid to students who go through our computer hardware program, and possibly get installed into systems in the future):

There is one for an internal RAID array and one for an external expansion rack.

Third, 2 USB 3.0 LaCie 4BIG external RAID boxes:

I must say I enjoy the design of them. They will be used at our sites as long-term storage of backup images and utilities that we use. They each have 12TB of storage in them.

Finally, my favorite part of the donation, an HP Z800:

This will be replacing the Z400 that is currently the main office workstation at my site. I haven't decided on the exact configuration yet, although I'm swinging towards a 600GB C: drive with the 4 lower 600GBs in a RAID 6 array for on-demand data. And the entire system will be backed up to the external RAID which I haven't decided on a configuration yet.

Keep your eyes peeled for the next post, and at the end, I will write a summary post with links to each post in the series.

This is my first time playing with RAID systems so if you have any suggestions as to configurations or if mine is a terrible one please feel free to comment. I'm always looking to improve.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed!
God bless!
