Just yesterday, I was on my couch enjoying my reality shows on TV when my phone beeped. I checked and it was a Facebook messenger.

I said to myself, "Who could have sent me a message on Facebook?"

I never bothered to check the content and an hour later, I wanted to start writing my article for the day so I removed my phone from where I plugged it.

I clicked on the messenger notification to check who it was and immediately the message opened, I felt uneasy because it was a message from my first boyfriend who left me some years ago because he wanted to further his education, he thought that the relationship won't let him concentrate at school.

He texted, "Hi, can we hang out tonight at a coffee shop?"

It's been an hour since I got the message, I didn't want to reply but I wanted to know why he texted me so I replied, "Sure I will be available by 6pm".

He replied to my text 30 minutes after with the address of the coffee shop.

Around 5:30pm, I was ready and left my house for the coffee shop. I sat there beside the window looking outside from the transparent glass waiting for him to arrive.

He was five minutes late but thank God he came if not I was getting pissed because I didn't order anything for myself. I don't want to be too forward, who knows if he won't show up like he did some years back and as I thought about that in my mind, I sighted him entering the coffee shop.

I waved to him so that he could see me because there were a lot of people there enjoying warm coffee with their friends and loved ones.

He got to my table with a surprised face then he asked, "When did you get here?" I replied, "Not quite long".

He sat and then wave to the waiter, then he moved closer to the table as if he wants to whisper something to me but then the waiter got to our table to take our orders.

We both ordered a warm coffee because the weather is cold and the air-conditioning in the shop made things worse.

After the waiter left he asked, "How have you been?"

He looked straight into my eye romantically.

I replied, "I am good" without any emotion.

Then he replied, "The reason why I asked you to have coffee with me is that I wanted to apologize for what I did to you, I was young and I couldn't decide for myself so I did what I thought was best for me so here I am saying that I am sorry Dara because I know I have hurt you so deep but if you could find a place in your heart to forgive me I will be so happy".

My heart which has been strong for so many years melted because I never did anything wrong before he left and all I wanted was an explanation of what went wrong in the relationship.

I sipped my coffee to distract myself from crying and the warm coffee stop my tears from rolling down because I lifted the cup so high as if I wanted to drink it all at once.

Then I replied, "That was in the past now, we are both young and we did what was best for us back then" with my eyes wide open so that I won't feel too emotional.

The conversation was smooth because he explained himself which I have been waiting for and I am happy that I could seat firmly in front of him throughout the time we spent in the coffee shop I never get emotional despite all the sweet things he said.
