There are so many sounds, in this world that we live in. Some which we are attracted to and are soothing to the ear, like music, and others which irritate us. This week we want you to tell us the sound that irritates you most in your whole life.
When I saw the topics for this week I was excited because I am irritated by so many sounds, but I will be sharing the most annoying sound.
The most annoying sound that irritates me is the loud chewing or slurping. this sound is always so unpleasant to my ears, and it creates an uncomfortable atmosphere for me, anytime I stay close to someone that slurps while eating, I always try to open up that it's not a proper way of eating, but if they refuse, I will try my best to avoid saying anything, rather excuse myself in order the avoid the sound, i notice that most times they do it unconsciously.
Eating with someone that is slurps or chew loudly is always so annoying and irritating to me, and it is not culturally accepted by me, because it's a form of disturbance to me, as much as i try to accommodate things, adapting to that sound became a very serious issue for me, because I'm easily distracted by things, so if I'm eating with someone that has that habit i will be irritated, and that will end the appetite I have for whatever I was eating, i alway feel wierd about that eating habit.
So as to avoid that in most cases i prefer eating alone, except otherwise. That is another reason I study my friends and their eating habit.
I recalled an incident that occurred, and I almost involved myself in trouble, I had a roommate that slurped while eating, and every time I complained about that eating habit, we ended up having a misunderstanding, some times she will do it deliberately knowing that it irritates me, so when I couldn't bear it again I had to improvised or possibly stay away, for peace to reign. Often time, i choose to stay out until she has finished her meal, just as a means of avoiding the unpleasant sound.
So after that incident, I tried my best to study my friends and happily for me, none of my friends slurps.
Apparently the habit triggers some emotional response, such as anger, discomfort, and anxiety, but i try to work on myself to understand individual differences and that has helped me to be better.
This is one of the most irritating and annoying sounds for me.
